What We Offer

Women's Football

Women’s football is a class that we are incredibly excited to be introducing to ACE Projects. In Brazil, football is a male-dominated sport; in many cases, girls in favelas are made fun of when they try to play. Football represents a deeper rooted problem in Brazil and the favelas. It represents a culture of sexism and machismo. Through football and with Tamires as a role model, we can start to break these cultural norms and offer young girls a platform to start being different from a young age.

Tennis

As an elitist sport, favela youth are not your stereotypical tennis players, nor in the eyes of people outside of the favela should they be. In Rio, tennis is a sport that divides the population; it separates rich from poor. Through tennis, we can start teaching young favela residents that they are just as “good” as people from outside favelas. We are helping them develop confidence, and eventually, we can begin mixing the classes through sport.

Vidigal Impact

ACE Projects work with local community leaders to educate and empower the change-makers of the new generation. Through our network of local leaders we offer powerful and engaging extracurricular support and inspiration to children from the community. Outside of extracurricular support our centers offer a small oasis for children and leaders to spend time with each other in a community space free from violence and negative activities.
